Attending the Lythgoe Family Panto in Pasadena has been my family’s tradition since December of 2015! I had no idea what to expect from a Panto the first time we went. However, I was drawn to the prospect of introducing my kids to live music and theater performances in a kid-friendly way. At the time, Sabrina Carpenter and a Teen Beach Movie actress were part of this Peter Pan Panto cast. The look of sheer awe on my girls’ faces when these actresses came out singing was priceless. They loved the show and we have attended every year since!
What is a Panto?
The Lythgoe Panto is a family theater going experience. People of all ages can (and do!) enjoy it!
The Lythgoe Family puts on a production every year that puts a modern twist on a classic fairy tale. The audience is treated to music and choreography that incorporates modern music. In fact, one year, the younger cast even came on stage with hoverboards! The kids in the audience went crazy.
Did I mention that your kids aren’t expected to be quiet in their seat for the duration of the production? In true British Panto fashion, the audience is encouraged to cheer for the good guys and boo at the bad guys. How’s that for a kid-friendly introduction to live theater?
What is this year’s Panto?
This year marks the Lythgoe Panto’s 10-year anniversary of A Snow White Christmas at the Pasadena Civic Auditorium.
Sure, one way to get your kids to the theater is to promise they get to see a play about Snow White.
Another way to interest your kids to head to this live theater experience? Tell them who will be in the cast!
Parents and kids alike get excited by the actors and actresses to be found at this production. Some notable cast members at this show will include:
- Olivia Sanabia (of Just Add Magic and Coop and Cami Ask the World) as Snow White
- Michael Campion (of Fuller House) as Prince Harry
- Michelle Williams (of Destiny’s Child) as the Wicked Queen
- Jared Gertner (of Broadway’s Book of Mormon) as Muddles
- Garrett Clayton (of Teen Beach Movie 1&2, and Hairspray Live) as The Huntsman
- Neil Patrick Harris (NPH!!!!) as…wait for it…The On Screen Magic Mirror
I mean, if there’s not at least one person in this list of names for each person in your family, I don’t know where you’ve been! But I can guarantee you the cast always consists of amazing singers, dancers, and actors.

Please note that there is a “Winter Wonderland” before the show! You’ll want to arrive early to take advantage of the offerings for the Panto 😉

Ticket Purchase Options:
Option #1: Tickets can be purchased online from The Pasadena Civic Center, with ticket prices starting at $28. Additionally, you can purchase a Golden Ticket for children ages 4 to 12 only for an extra $85 per child. Each child with a Golden ticket will stand on stage with other golden ticket holders while actors are off stage. Each golden ticket holder will have the opportunity to talk on stage and receive a gift bag.
