Stick your kid in a shoe!
No, really! There is this little wooden shoe that is just big enough for kids to sit in. We take a picture of the kids in it every time we head out to Solvang. It’s fun to see how much they have grown…or don’t even fit into the shoe anymore 😉

Your Kid’s first Danish Pancake
Have you ever had a Danish pancake? They are delicious. They are also huge! I didn’t take out my camera fast enough to capture my kids’ faces when they first saw the pancake come out. It was so fun to see their reactions!
You will find that it will not be hard to find a Danish pancake in one of the restaurants that serve breakfast in Solvang.

The beautiful Windmill
A windmill picture is an absolute must-have when you visit Solvang. It leaves zero doubt that you visited the town when you get a picture of this beauty!
Adventures in the streets

Do I look like a dork? Maybe. Was I having fun? Absolutely! I felt like Belle walking down the street. Seriously though, there are so many colorful buildings and walls. You have to get a fun picture in the streets!
Little Squares throughout the town
This particular area was in a little square outside of one of the bakeries. This was around Christmas time and the decor was absolutely beautiful.
Beautiful Decorative Signs
Just because! The signs themselves are picture-worthy and so much fun.
Local Happenings and the main square
There are plenty of things to see while walking around Solvang. Always have your camera ready to take capture the beauty.
The Little Mermaid Statue
This statue and water fountain is in homage to Hans Christian Andersen’s The Little Mermaid. This is a must-have picture.
Fairy tale park adventures
There are so many fun pictures that you can take at Sunny Fields Park in Solvang. It’s a little drive past Solvang, but so very worth it!
My kids pretended to be sea explorers, rapunzel, you name it!

Red phone booths and soldiers
Lets face it, you won’t find these kinds of decorations on just an city street. It is so fun to see your kids’ faces when you try to explain what a phone booth is and why we used to need them. It’s also fun just to get pictures with these decorations.

The Mission Santa Ines
The Santa Ines Mission is filled with beautiful photo opportunities. Don’t believe me? Ask my kids!
The gardens and interior of the mission are absolutely beautiful. The architecture alone makes for interesting pictures.
One of my favorite picture opportunities is the alter inside the Mission Santa Ines.
