Tanaka Farms Melon Tours: One in a Melon!
Tanaka Farms Melon Tours are open to the public this August 12 through September 5th 2021! Read on to see why we think this tour is “one in a melon!”

What is the Melon Tour?
Families get to tour Tanaka Farms via a tractor-pulled wagon while a tour-guide informs you all about melons! The guide will point out various crops and share history about the farm. You will also learn about melons and get to sample fruit or vegetable while on the wagon.
Do we get to eat melons?
Yes! Midway through the tour, attendees get to disembark the wagon and taste different types of melon. My family got to sample yellow squash, seeded red watermelon, seedless red watermelon, and YELLOW watermelon! We really got a kick out of trying yellow watermelon as we didn’t even know it existed.
Tour goers have the option to take leftovers of chopped up melon if any are left.
Do we get to pick anything?
In true Tanaka Farm wagon tour fashion, individuals on the wagon tour will each get to pick some tomatoes. We each got small boxes to fill with red and yellow tomatoes. The kids were so curious that they sampled the tomatoes as they picked. They loved them and thought they tasted sweet.
Do we get to take anything home?
Each paid admission receives a tour sticker to wear on their shirt. Each person with a sticker gets a melon. This means that ALL three of us got to take home a melon!
What else can we do at Tanaka Farms?
We HIGHLY recommend you head over to the barnyard area to look at all of the farm animals. We saw chickens, goats, a pig, and Ethel the cow!
After you finish the tour and checking out the farm animals, you can shop the farm fresh produce in the farmer’s market right next to the parking lot.
Would you recommend this tour?
This tour is fun for ALL ages! My tween and teen both had a blast. We all learned something about melons, farming, and had a great time being out in the sunshine picking tomatoes. Who doesn’t love to sample fresh produce and get to visit with barnyard animals in the process?
This is a great way to spend the day outside and with the family. It was refreshing to have a day of no Zoom or online work.
